INCEPTION OF SACRIFICE
Sacrifice was founded in Melbourne in late 2010 by Daniel Mills and Pos Siebel. Daniel grew up in Melbourne's Northern suburbs and was revered in the area as one of the most fearless BMX riders around. Dan never lost his love for bikes and eventually went into the bike business. Owning three successful bike stores Dan specialised in high end BMX parts, and eventually skateboard and scooter parts. He noticed a massive shift in trends from BMX and skateboards to scooters, and saw there was an opportunity, due to a hole in the market, for a high end Australian scooter brand. Dan needed to collaborate with the right person to complete the puzzle, and he went on the lookout for the person to bring the technical design skills required to make this happen. Pos Siebel is an industrial designer with the right mix of experience, he also has experience with extreme sports, such as skateboarding, snowboarding, bmx, and mountainbiking and has been in product development and technical design for over a decade and truly believes in pushing the boundaries when it comes to design, combining both looks with performance.
The business found immediate traction, as riders were drawn to the "out of the box design" of it's scooter parts. As this is an evolving market, Sacrifice hopes to be one of the pioneers of the industry and help shape the future of the sport. Sacrifice aims to see scooter riding becoming a main stream sport in years to come, and to also see the sport be accepted into major events like X games.
The aim of the boys from day one was simple. Make the world's best scooter. With Dan's hand on experience with kids bringing in broken scooter parts to his shops, he knew what needed to be changed. They then gathered up a handful of Australia's best scooter riders to be involved in the design process, to give their feedback in terms of what makes a great scooter. Pos and the riders worked side by side through countless prototypes and extensive testing, looking at all the fundamental riding pressures exerted on all the parts of the scooter before the formula for Sacrifice was conceived.
After much anticipation Sacrifice Parts were finally released in late November 2011.
